PROJECT COVERAGE

The overall objective of the support project was boosting the capacity of the Namibian Standards Institution. Hence, the standardization strategy outlined the national standards development programme based on identified national economic and non-economic priorities with the aim of protecting the consumer, animals and the environment and improve economic competitiveness for business. 

Two-fold purposes: To develop the National Standardisation Strategy; and capacity building to NSI and other institutions on the implementation of the National Standardisation Strategy.

Five-fold Project outputs:

  • National standardisation and quality infrastructure needs identified;
  • National standardisation strategy developed;
  • Technical skills and capabilities on the economic and trade significance of the national standardisation strategy enhanced;
  • Technical skills and capabilities on the relationship between standards and technical regulations strengthened;
  • Fit-for-Purpose national quality infrastructure appreciated.
