PROJECT COVERAGE

The objective of the training is to provide capacity building to the ESA-5 technical experts involved in the negotiations of the deepening of the EPA, more particularly focusing on Trade in Services, Investment and Digital Trade.

Four-fold purposes: The technical teams of the ESA-5 EPA negotiators are capacitated to address negotiations on trade in services to strengthen competitiveness and further integration in the global trading system; The technical teams of the ESA-5 EPA negotiators are capacitated in the technical and practical aspects of investment that are relevant to the EPA negotiations; The technical teams of the ESA-5 EPA negotiators are capacitated in the technical and practical aspects of digital trade to strengthen competitiveness and further integration in the global trading system; and The technical teams of the ESA-5 countries are aware of relevant provisions on trade in services, investment and digital trade in FTAs signed between the EU and third countries.

Four-fold Project outputs:

  • Officers from the national authorities of the ESA 5 countries are trained on technical and practical aspects of Trade in Services relevant to the EPA negotiations including horizontal provisions, domestic regulations, market access, national treatment, and special and differential treatment among other aspects;
  • The technical teams of the ESA-5 countries are trained on the technical and practical aspects of investment that are relevant to the EPA negotiations;
  • Officers from the national authorities of the ESA 5 countries are trained on technical and practical aspects of Digital Trade relevant to the EPA negotiations and;
  • Officers from the national authorities of the ESA-5 countries are aware of the provisions on trade in services and investment in FTAs signed between the EU and third countries.

RESULTS ACHIEVED

Purpose 1: The technical teams of the ESA-5 EPA negotiators are capacitated to address negotiations on trade in services to strengthen competitiveness and further integration in the global trading system

  • Officers from the national authorities of the ESA 5 countries are trained on technical and practical aspects of Trade in Services relevant to the EPA negotiations including horizontal provisions, domestic regulations, market access, national treatment, and special and differential treatment among other aspects.

Purpose 4: The technical teams of the ESA-5 countries are aware of relevant provisions on trade in services, investment and digital trade in FTAs signed between the EU and third countries

  • Officers from the national authorities of the ESA-5 countries are aware of the provisions on trade in services and investment in FTAs signed between the EU and third countries
